    Application Deadline: September 25, 2026

    Education: 2-Year Degree Required

    Experience Level: Mid-level

    Compensation: USD $30 – $40 / hour

Cause Areas: Community Development, Women, Conflict Resolution, Race & Ethnicity, Philanthropy

    Description

    About the Role

Intersectional Innovations Consulting is seeking an Outreach and Communications Coordinator to lead our visibility, engagement, and relationship-building across digital platforms and community networks. You’ll own our content and social strategy, manage newsletters and client communications, support events and campaigns, and help make sure every touchpoint reflects our voice: warm, thoughtful, restorative, bold, and grounded in equity and justice.

This is a great fit for someone who sees communications as relationship-building, not broadcasting — who’d rather craft an invitation into a conversation than push out an announcement. Please note: this is a part-time role, capped at 5–10 hours per week.

    What You’ll Own

    • Content & social strategy — draft, edit, schedule, and publish LinkedIn and social content (Instagram as needed); maintain a consistent, values-driven presence
    • Editorial calendar — the central source of truth for what’s being published, when, and where
    • Newsletters & client letters — draft and distribute announcements, event invitations, and follow-ups on a regular cadence
    • Website updates — keep pages, resources, and announcements current
    • Event & campaign communications — promotional copy, graphics, reminders, and post-event follow-up across channels
    • Design — flyers, social graphics, and promotional assets in Canva
    • Analytics — review engagement and performance data to inform strategy, not just report on it
    • Outreach — build and maintain relationships with partners, clients, speakers, and collaborators
    • Research — surface timely articles, reports, and conversations relevant to our community

    What a Week Looks Like

Daily check-ins across email, LinkedIn, and Instagram messages; regular LinkedIn scheduling; following up on open action items with the team; tracking upcoming events and deadlines; ongoing podcast and speaking-opportunity outreach. Weekly reviews of the editorial calendar and priorities. Monthly planning 4–6 weeks out, engagement review, and content gap analysis.

You Might Be a Good Fit If You

    • Write clearly and warmly, and can adapt tone while staying true to a consistent voice
    • Have hands-on experience with LinkedIn content/scheduling, Canva, and website content management (Wix)
    • Are comfortable owning a content calendar and keeping multiple communications moving at once without close supervision
    • Have an interest or background in social impact, DEI, or restorative/community-centered work
    • Are detail-oriented and reliable with deadlines — especially around client-facing communications
    • Enjoy relationship-building as much as content creation

    Tools You’ll Use

LinkedIn, Canva, Wix, HoneyBook, Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive), Google Analytics, YouTubeRead less

This is a hands-on role for someone who’s equal parts: sharp writer, organized operator, and plant-literate human. You do not need to know every Latin name. You do need to understand how to talk about plants accurately, without making beginners feel like they’re back in school.

This role is 95% asynchronous (meaning you complete the work when you’d like) with one weekly 1-hour Zoom meeting. The ideal person can work independently and provide consistent digital updates. (I have a day job, so besides this weekly Zoom meeting, communication is mostly done via email, G Suite, and Slack.)

    About The Plant Native

The Plant Native is a beginner-friendly platform that makes native planting feel doable (and fun). We focus on clear guidance for busy homeowners: what to plant where, what to avoid, what to expect through the seasons, and how to build a yard that supports real life. The Plant Native is independently owned; learn more about the mission and the founder.

To hear the voice/tone of the brand, visit our Native Plant ProfilesGuides, and FAQs.

Website Content Updates (WordPress + Elementor)

    • Upload, format, and publish content in WordPress and Elementor (headings, spacing, images, links) from provided Google Docs
    • Create and maintain internal links between related pages
    • Add alt text, check mobile formatting, and catch broken links before anything goes live
    • Keep categories/tags and page layouts consistent using our templates
    • Use Google Docs and Google Sheets to stay organized, but work independently

Website Copy Support (Drafting + Editing)

    • Draft short website sections from outlines and source notes (intros, FAQs, blurbs, resource pages)

    • If you’re interested in writing more, there are opportunities to contribute more to the website content

You’re a good fit if you

    • Have plant experience or plant adjacency: gardening experience, nursery work, ecology/horticulture coursework, environmental education, field research, botany hobbyist, or similar
    • Can write clearly and keep beginner readers in mind
    • Catch details other people miss (formatting, links, consistency, non-Oxford commas, weird spacing)
    • Can follow a system and improve it as you go
    • Can work independently and communicate progress reliably

    Nice to have

    • WordPress and Elementor experience
    • Basic SEO comfort (titles, meta descriptions, internal linking, image alt text)
    • Photoshop skills (light image resizing, nothing fancy)
    • Comfort reading and summarizing sources (extension sites, botanical gardens, peer-reviewed articles when needed)

    How to apply

    In an email, please send:

    1. A short note (5–10 sentences) on why this role fits you, and your experience with plants.
    2. 2–5 writing samples (short article, past essay, social post, or anything that shows a brand voice in action).
    3. Which state you live in, and your favorite native plant.
    4. Links or screenshots of web work, if you have them (optional, but helpful).

    • Analyze data from grantees, research studies, external datasets, and partner organizations to support modeling, measurement, and evaluation.
    • Develop user-friendly and audience-specific charts, tables, and visualizations that translate modeling and evaluation results into clear insights for grantmaking, portfolio strategy, and advisory engagements.

    • Support the development and maintenance of public-facing impact dashboards and visualizations.

    About GitLab Foundation

The GitLab Foundation exists to help more people afford a better life. We focus on increasing lifetime earnings for individuals earning below a living wage by identifying, funding, and scaling the most effective pathways to economic mobility. Our North Star is to maximize lifetime earnings gains for every dollar deployed, with an ambitious goal of generating more than $100 in lifetime earnings gains for every $1 invested.

We are evolving beyond a traditional grantmaking foundation into a platform for high-impact philanthropy. In addition to deploying our own capital, we work with donors, foundations, and partners to direct more resources toward evidence-backed solutions that create measurable improvements in people’s lives. Our work spans four complementary areas: high-impact grantmaking, collaborative capital vehicles that mobilize funding at scale, advisory services that help donors and foundations maximize their impact, and knowledge and intelligence products that enable better philanthropic decision-making.

At the core of our approach is a commitment to rigor, transparency, and measurable results. We combine impact modeling, data, research, technology, and practical implementation experience to identify opportunities that can deliver outsized social returns—and help others do the same. Learn more about the GitLab Foundation by visiting our website and reviewing our public Handbook.

    The Team

The GitLab Foundation is a high-performing, fully remote team that moves quickly, values curiosity, and is deeply results-oriented. Grounded in our CREDIT values, we bring together diverse experience across philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, the private sector, and research — combining that range with rigor, empathy, and strategic clarity to drive meaningful, measurable impact. Our culture is built on respect, humility, and open debate, with a strong bias for action. We hold ourselves to high standards, operate with transparency and ownership, and take initiative without waiting for perfect clarity.

Priorities evolve, ambiguity is the norm, and we embrace it – iterating and improving as we go.
