Communications Officer
The Club of Rome is looking for a communications officer to join our team. This role will support the implementation and delivery of the Club of Rome communication strategy across multiple communication channels.
This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who combines strong writing and editorial skills with practical experience across digital channels, from social media and web content to newsletters and databases. The ideal candidate is organised, proactive and comfortable managing and prioritising a wide variety of tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, write, edit and proofread a variety of copy about the Club of Rome with a high degree of accuracy that is clear and comprehensible to external audiences
- Production and/or publishing blogs, news items and interviews
- Produce website content, building and updating webpages
- Prepare and post social media materials, including graphics and multimedia
- Collate and evaluate information about the effectiveness of communication activities, compile and/or review monthly statistics collected
- General communications support for other activities as required, e.g., posting press releases, exploring podcast publication opportunities, coordinating with suppliers
- Support publicity of Club of Rome events
- Conduct administrative tasks for communications-related work, such as maintaining a database of contacts and influencers, and collating information for the evaluation of activities
- Support the update of information in databases, including Salesforce - collating, cleansing and inputting data
- Support strategies to enhance member engagement and improve internal communications
- Develop and implement strategies to strengthen the “Systems Change Comms Network” as a platform of the Club of Rome
- Assist other projects such as Earth4All, The Fifth Element and The 50 Percent in terms of communications activities
- Other tasks as required, including supporting the Club of Rome Team in undertaking their work on behalf of the organisation
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
- Three to five years’ experience working on international campaigns or communications projects to diverse audiences
- Fluent in English
- Ability to translate abstract or scientific content for public audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with using social media platforms and a track record of creating engaging and creative copy and graphic content including social media cards, banners and marketing materials using Canva
- Experience with Mailchimp and WordPress; experience with SEO and Google Analytics is a plus
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office, and remote working technology
- Interest in, and discerning use of, AI tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across projects and with other partners, in different geographies
- Highly organised and methodical in approach to work
- Flexible, proactive and able to multi-task
- Detail-oriented and able to take ownership of tasks with personal drive and to work with minimal supervision.
CONDITIONS
Remote: the applicant can be located anywhere but must be available for daily meetings in the European time zone.
Salary: dependent on location, experience and hours to be discussed with candidate
Full-time Up to 36 hours per week, to be discussed with candidate
