    Chief of Staff

    About Splash

Splash is a global nonprofit organization founded in 2007, headquartered in Seattle, Washington, USA. Since 2007, we have completed more than 2,500 projects that serve over 1.2 million children each day. Currently focused on cities in East Africa, Splash delivers the clean water, clean toilets, and dignified menstrual health resources that every child deserves through comprehensive water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health (WASH-M) services and behavior change programs across 100% of a city’s public schools.

Our distinctive model transforms entire cities, starting at the school water fountain, by shifting systems, infrastructure, and behaviors in partnership with local governments and communities. We start by building relationships with the local stakeholders responsible for education, health, and water management, and we negotiate financial commitments that support a full transition of operations and maintenance to local leadership.

Our vision is global impact without Splash, made possible through partnerships with national governments, co-creation with local communities, and replication far beyond our day-to-day involvement.

In 2019, we began testing and refining Project WISE (WASH in Schools for Everyone), a cost-effective and replicable blueprint designed to reach 100% of public schools in fast-growing, complex cities in partnership with local governments and community leaders. In five years, we achieved our goals in Ethiopia and India, and we began our next phase of expansion in East Africa in 2025 and aspire to continue in South Asia in 2027 and the Middle East in 2029.

Our core values guide everything we do, including every hiring decision we make. They are:

    • People – People first. People second. People third.
    • Quality – Beautiful products that function and last.
    • Honesty – No drama, no surprises, no BS.
    • Joy – Kids at heart, seeing potential everywhere.
    • Mistakes – Make them, don’t repeat them.

Splash values the unique skills and experiences everyone brings to the organization, and we are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and qualified applicants for employment. To learn more, please visit www.splash.org.

In particular, if they are directly at risk of being targeted or have the potential to spark popular mobilisation for a transformative progressive agenda. We work in partnerships with others in the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA).

    Vision

We envision a just world in which everyone, regardless of their identity, background or circumstances, lives in dignity and freedom and can build a fair and sustainable future for themselves, their communities, and the wider society.

    Mission

Our mission is to defend and expand the civil and political rights that enable individuals, marginalised communities, their movements, and their organisations to claim and realise equality and justice.

    Our DNA

Hivos has guts and dares to tackle sensitive issues. The way we question existing power structures and their effects on society is different and innovative. Purpose of role

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in advancing Hivos’ strategic funding and partnership ambitions under the Ten for Ten strategy. The role focuses on identifying, shaping, and securing institutional funding and strategic partnerships that enable Hivos to deliver complex, multi-country and multi-actor programmes aligned with its mission to defend and expand civil and political rights.

Operating within a functional, globally dispersed business development model, the role combines market and contextual intelligence, relationship-building, and coordinated proposal development. It requires close collaboration with programme, finance, and support functions to translate strategic priorities into high-quality, fundable opportunities that are operationally feasible, compliant, and aligned with Hivos’ values and power-shifting approach.

Depending on the specific focus of the position, the role emphasises either deep regional and contextual knowledge or the orchestration of complex, cross-regional design processes. Across all variants, the position contributes to both short-term fundraising results and longer-term positioning of Hivos within priority donor, foundation, and partnership ecosystems.

The Business Development Manager (Europe Focus, EU Expertise) contributes to advancing Hivos’ funding and partnership ambitions under the Ten for Ten strategy, with a focus on Europe-focused programmes, including EU, domestic, and other European funding and philanthropic ecosystems.

    • Support relationship-building with EU institutions, European foundations, local authorities, and strategic partners relevant to Hivos’ work in Europe.
    • Represent Hivos in Europe-focused funding, donor, and partnership spaces, including EU-related fora where relevant.

    Profile

This role requires strong expertise in EU funding architectures, compliance frameworks, and policy dynamics, combined with familiarity with European foundations, domestic funding mechanisms, and philanthropic actors. It calls for an understanding of civic space, political, and regulatory contexts in priority European countries where Hivos wants to work, and the ability to translate these into competitive and well-positioned funding propositions across diverse European funding streams.

    Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
    • 7+ years of relevant experience in business development, institutional fundraising, or programme development.
    • Experience in new business development, including identifying funding opportunities and engaging donors to build a pipeline of prospective bids.

  • Researchers (2)

    Researchers (2)

Global Energy Monitor is seeking two experienced Researchers who will work as part of GEM’s research team, contributing to trackers, datasets, and projects as needed.

This role will work as part of GEM’s Global Energy Ownership Tracker, which is collecting and improving GEM’s data on ownership of combustion power plants, mines (for coal and iron), steel plants, and oil and gas pipelines. As with all of GEM’s data, this data is made freely available to anyone, and is used for identifying the companies and other entities that own projects that are responsible for a large portion of greenhouse gas emissions. This ownership data is also used by Climate TRACE, a non-profit coalition of organizations building a timely, open, and accessible inventory of every significant source of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions.

The Global Energy Ownership Tracker compiles and standardizes ownership information for energy assets by tracing each project’s ownership chain from the direct owner through intermediate entities to ultimate parents, including corporations, investment firms, and governments. The methodology is designed to improve transparency across GEM’s datasets by capturing both controlling and minority ownership stakes, and by linking ownership records to other GEM trackers through consistent entity IDs and cross-dataset standards. This makes it easier to analyze who ultimately controls energy infrastructure, compare ownership patterns across sectors, and support climate accountability research and policy work.

    The Challenge

According to the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC), we have less than a decade to make massive and unprecedented changes in the global economy to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. To meet that challenge,
    Global Energy Monitor
