Global Artivism is a Global Majority-led movement that engages the full power of arts and culture to work toward a just world on a safe planet.

We are led by those most affected by injustice, particularly from the Global South, ensuring the movement reflects the cultural and demographic reality of the world. The movement connects artists, cultural workers, and activists across regions, building the infrastructure, relationships, and resources for Artivism to lead lasting change.

These principles shape how the movement works, how decisions are made, and what is asked of those who join.

    • Global Majority Leadership and South–South Solidarity.

    • Artists at the Center, Culture as Strategy.
    • Intersectional and Community-Centered.
    • Trust Before Scale.

Global Artivism is governed by a Global Council representing artists, activists, and movement builders from across regions. The Movement Secretariat is the coordination team that supports the Council operationally.

    The Engagement

Global Artivism is contracting a senior partnerships professional to lead how the movement grows and sustains its relationships across regions, movements, and sectors. The contractor will steward existing partnerships, build new ones, and work closely with regional leaders to deepen community engagement. This engagement requires cross-cultural fluency, the ability to build trust with diverse partners across regions, and strategic thinking about how relationships and networks advance the movement.

This is an independent contractor engagement managed through Global Artivism’s fiscal sponsorship structure with Res Publica US Inc. The contractor sets their own working hours and methods, may provide services to other clients, and is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and any local registrations or compliance requirements in their country of residence.

    Coordination Relationships

The contractor will coordinate primarily with Executive Leadership, and will work alongside the Communications Director, Program Specialists and Coordinators, Global Council and Committees, and the Governance Lead on agreed deliverables.

Coordination relationships do not constitute supervisory authority. Decision-making at Global Artivism is distributed through governance structures, committees, and collaborative processes.

    Key Responsibilites

    Strategic Partnerships & Network Development

    • Own and expand Global Artivism’s partnerships portfolio with cultural institutions, activist organizations, civil society networks, and relevant entities.
    • Develop partnership strategy in collaboration with Executive Leadership, ensuring alignment with community needs and movement priorities.
    • Facilitate and negotiate partnership agreements that advance the movement’s goals and build a shared ecosystem.
    • Ensure strong Global South representation and inclusion in all partnership activities.
    • Represent Global Artivism at external convenings and partner meetings; contribute strategic intelligence from the network to organizational planning.
    • Create knowledge management practices that capture learnings from partnerships and community work.

    Regional Engagement & Solidarity Building

    • Activate and steward relationships with regional artivism networks, hubs, and communities across Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Middle East/North Africa, and beyond.
    • Design and support consistent regional engagement rhythms — gatherings, dialogues, virtual exchanges — that build trust and circulate learning.
    • Connect regional leadership to global strategy; create pathways for South-South exchange and mutual learning.
    • Coordinate with the Secretariat on ecosystem mapping and partner outreach.
    • Support the Inter-Regional Learning Exchange program to deepen relationships and circulate knowledge across geographies.

    Community Strategy & Engagement

    • Lead strategic planning for community growth and movement engagement.
    • Co-design programming — webinars, dialogues, virtual meetups, peer-to-peer spaces — that sustains connection and builds collective identity.
    • Coordinate with the Global Council and Committees through strategic engagement and collaborative initiatives.
    • Establish metrics to track community health and engagement; use data to inform decision-making.
    • Facilitate feedback processes and collaborative reflection to assess engagement and identify opportunities.
    • Document partnership and community engagement outcomes; contribute to grant reports and organizational reporting.

    Strategic Programs & Events

    • Lead the partnership and community dimensions of strategic virtual and in-person programs, including the Global Artivism Convening.
    • Build partner coalitions and steward key funder and ally relationships for the events.
    • Coordinate community participation planning and inclusive engagement design.
    • Work with specialized partners, contractors and other team members to ensure the convening reflects movement values.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Has led partnerships and community network development across diverse global contexts, including with institutional, movement, and sector partners. Experience gained through movement organizing, cultural networks, or civil society work counts alongside formal employment.

    • Can translate community and network knowledge into organizational strategy and planning.
    • Has worked with or within Global South organizations and communities.
    • Demonstrated capacity to work independently with accountability to the team.

    • Ability to operate as an independent contractor, including managing own schedule, tools, and tax compliance.
    • Commitment to Global Artivism’s values, mission, and guiding principles.

    Preferred

    • Deep familiarity with arts, activism, or social justice movements — particularly in Global South contexts.
    • Experience coordinating or contributing to large-scale convenings or international gatherings.
    • Experience with inter-regional network building or South-South solidarity work.
    • Experience with knowledge management and documentation systems.

    Contractor Status & Eligibility

This engagement is structured as an independent contractor relationship. The contractor sets their own schedule and chooses how to deliver the agreed scope, is responsible for their own income tax, social contributions, business registration, and any other compliance requirements in their country of residence, will not receive employee benefits, paid leave, or insurance coverage from Res Publica US Inc or Global Artivism, and may provide services to other clients during the engagement. About LEEP

LEEP is an impact-driven, evidence-based nonprofit that aims to eliminate childhood lead poisoning, which affects an estimated one in three children worldwide. We primarily focus on one important source of exposure: lead paint. Our paint programs involve generating data, supporting governments with the introduction and enforcement of regulation, and assisting manufacturers in switching to lead-free paints. Beyond our paint programs, we are piloting interventions to address other sources of lead exposure, such as spices and cosmetics.

Since our founding in September 2020:

    • We have initiated lead paint elimination programs in 40 countries; completed 33 paint studies; and agreed on goals to establish lead paint regulation with government agencies in 18 (e.g., Angola).
    • We’ve made crucial progress in engaging with manufacturers in 22 countries (e.g., Pakistan), and in reducing the lead paint market share in Ghana, Malawi and Pakistan
    • Founders Pledge estimates that it costs $1.66 to prevent one child’s lead exposure (in expectation) through our work, making LEEP one of its most cost-effective nonprofit recommendations. Our own analysis estimates that it costs under $5 to avert one DALY equivalent through LEEP’s first 13 established programs.
    • We are a partner of the WHO and UN Environment Programme’s Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint and a member of the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future.
    • We have received grants from major grantmaking organisations, including Founders Pledge, Coefficient Giving, Bloomberg Philanthropies, USAID, and Schmidt Futures.

WUSC is a Canadian global development organization working to catalyze positive education and economic outcomes for young people. We bring together and collaborate with a diverse network of partners (including students, volunteers, schools, governments, not-for-profits, and businesses) who share this mission. Together, we influence systems change, and foster inclusive, youth-centered solutions that enable young people to thrive and belong. We work with all young people, with a focus on women and displaced populations.  WUSC currently operates in 28 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Canada, with an annual budget of approximately CAD $65 million. Our global team includes over 100 staff in Canada and more than 250 staff internationally, implementing a diverse portfolio of development projects in collaboration with numerous multilateral and bilateral donors, and philanthropic foundations.

    WUSC’s Labour Mobility Portfolio

Atlantic Canadian employers are facing significant labour shortages, and there are millions of displaced persons around the world who have the skills, training, language and work experience that businesses are seeking.

Since 2019, WUSC has been a leader in pioneering refugee labour mobility in Canada as a durable solution for displaced young people. JOB SUMMARY

YLabs is seeking a highly motivated Youth Leadership Fellow to support in driving the national expansion of AskingforaFriend.org, a digital platform designed with and for young people ages 12-19 years, of diverse and historically marginalized identities in the US, to support learning about, finding, and utilizing stigmatized adolescent wellness resources, especially sexual, mental, identity-affirming, and GBV support. We initially created this platform through co-design with 300+ young people in California, but now we are ready to rapidly expand it across the US to meet the urgent needs of youth outside California. We want a young person who is as passionate as OR MORE about this to drive this expansion alongside our team of experts and international Youth Leader Fellows.

This position requires a minimum commitment of ASAP, from June to October, between 50-100% time, with the possibility of extension.

    DO YOU HAVE:

    • A passion for supporting young people in gaining agency and support on their journeys to finding the answers and care they need around their most stressful and unsupported health journeys.
    • Experience playing some sort of role in this journey for young people, whether that is having advocated for any of these issues, studying these topics, practicing health education, or researching public health as it pertains to their issues.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas to a wide range of audiences, especially adolescents.
    • Personal lived experience that aligns with the core demographic for whom this platform has been designed, with and for. When you think about Askingforafriend.org, does it speak to you or your community’s needs?
    • Passionate about leading and working on youth and digital health projects, as well as national marketing to young people.
    • Ability to form and maintain positive relationships with collaborators, peers, and organizations that are values-aligned.
    • You don’t need the world’s fanciest resume or an extensive list of credentials for this position. Having a non-traditional background is ok, or maybe even great for this role! We want to hear from you about why you think you can play a strong role in leading the expansion of Asking for a Friend and why it matters to you.

    KEY ACTIVITIES:

We have a team of experts that will be at your disposal, but ideally, you are someone who is excited about some or all of these activities:

    • Create and write new decision support tools, health quizzes, and FAQ content responses that respond to what 400+ young people have sent in submissions for (we have experts who will happily review as well).
    • Support in partnership building, which involves seeking and engaging organizations and individuals we could partner with to improve our ability to reach young people with what they most need.
    • Support the creation of the national marketing campaign we will launch this fall, when the platform is ready to move from the California pilot to a US-wide resource, including support for creating paid and organic content.
    • Support in advocating for Asking for a Friend by speaking at webinars, supporting leadership in pitching at conferences, and helping build AskingforaFriend.org into a longer-term resource that can reach as many young people as we need it to!

    PAY RATE:

The monthly full-time rate for this position is pinned to a US-based entry-level fellowship rate of $5,000 USD per month, commensurate with experience.
