About the role

GNDR is seeking to appoint a Project Officer to support the implementation of the Pacific CIRCLE project funded by the KIWA Initiative in Tonga and Kiribati. The role is pivotal in driving project delivery across these locations.

In this role, you will manage day-to-day project operations, coordinate closely with national implementing partners, and collaborate with our Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer to ensure robust quality assurance and reporting. 

You will also be responsible for maintaining trusted relationships with local civil society organisations, supporting capacity-building efforts, and ensuring project activities are executed smoothly within your target regions and according to budgets.

We are looking for someone who is organised, adept at project and stakeholder management, with a practical understanding of international development frameworks, participatory approaches, and equity-focused interventions. 

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and cross-cultural competence and have a deep commitment to inclusive and participatory practices.

Overall scope of the role & job description

As a member of the secretariat team, the Project Officer is responsible for supporting the project strategy and annual work plan. Working closely with local partners (FSPK and TCDT), they will facilitate activity execution and monitor deliverables in line with strategic goals.

The postholder will play a pivotal role in the KIWA Initiative’s Pacific CIRCLE project, which aims to address extreme climate vulnerabilities across Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Kiribati by empowering local communities, particularly women, youth, and people with disabilities, to lead ecosystem protection and coastal restoration using high-integrity Nature-Based Solutions.

The programme focuses on building community capacity for sustainable agriculture and coastal restoration to enhance long-term resilience and ensure inclusive climate action.

Position in the organisation

  • Functional reporting to the Head of Programmes (line manager)
  • Operational reporting to the Regional Lead in Asia
  • Part of the secretariat team and active participant in cross-team working groups
  • Collaboration with secretariat staff, global board, membership, and project partners

Salary and contract

This role is offered on a full-time, 3.5-year fixed-term contract basis. We offer competitive salaries and benefits across all our locations and salaries are paid in local currency.

Location and eligibility

Open to candidates based in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, we are specifically interested in receiving applications from: Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Philippines, and Tonga. 

Occasional regional and international travel may be required.

Start date

The ideal start date for this role is on or before the week of 22 June 2026 to align with the project’s launch on 29 June. However, we recognise the constraints of notice periods and can offer some flexibility for the right candidate.
