About The Afara Initiative 

The Afara Initiative is a non-profit organization which aims to set ~1Mn un/under-served post-secondary and university graduates on a path to economic independence and support them as emerging entrepreneurs, industry and public leaders of the new Nigeria. Our mission is to provide African youth with the mindset, skillsets, resources and global networks to thrive and become industry and nation builders and leaders. 

Since 2014, The Afara Initiative has impacted 1,000+ students through its programs and aims to scale to 55,000+ students by 2029 and 1M+ by 2034. In 2025 itself, we have an ambitious goal of impacting 8,000 students through our programs. 

Our students span across all 36 states in Nigeria and our alumni work across 10+ countries across the globe. We have scaled our impact through two major interventions: The Bridge Fellowship (A hyper-selective leadership accelerator for high potential university students with a dedication towards creating systemic change) and The Pathway Career Accelerator (Career accelerators run in partnership with universities offering career development and advancement programs and services). 

The Bridge Program (TBP) 

A hyper-selective (<5% acceptance) leadership fellowship for high-potential university students with a dedication towards creating systemic change. The fellowship program comprises (i) an in-person 4-week intensive bootcamp, (ii) 6-months of in-person/ virtual sessions covering additional pieces of our curriculum (iii) 3-months real-world experience through an internship, venture building or social project, (iv) transition into sought after careers within 12-months of graduation and (v) an accelerated leadership track in critical industries and civic bodies. 

Position Summary 

The Team Lead of The Bridge Program will be the face of The Bridge Program and be in-charge to oversee the end-to-end delivery of TBP across cohorts and handle key activities like admissions, program delivery, post-program pathways, and alumni engagement. Areas of responsibility may include, but are not limited to: 

Admissions 

  • Design the admissions process and evaluation framework each year based on yearly goals and targets 
  • Support the Growth & Marketing Team to host webinars, build communities across universities, and run the Campus Ambassador Program
  • Build all collaterals for admissions – admissions guide, marketing materials, pitch decks etc. as necessary 
  • Hire and train the admissions team based on the evaluation framework in order to maintain an unbiased selection process while maintaining/improving selection metrics 
  • Design the on-boarding process of each fellow into the ecosystem 

Program Innovation and Delivery 

  • Execute day-to-day operations including program implementation, delivery, and community management 
  • Lead all the bootcamps as Camp Director and periodically train a diverse team of program managers, program associates, facilitators, and volunteers for successful execution of the camp Strengthen the bootcamp curriculum and other learning materials, as and when required Design post-bootcamp engagement for students to ensure all curriculum pillars are covered including real-life experiences and General Assembly during active programming period 
  • Work with technology tools to automate processes and use LMS on a daily basis as the medium for dissemination of TBP 
  • Manage end-to-end bootcamp operations, vendors, logistics, and budgets with The Bridge Team Enforce data-driven improvements to enhance operations and program experience to achieve fellow engagement, outcomes etc. 

Post-program Pathways 

  • Chart post-program pathways for students in three tracks i) Public Leadership ii) Entrepreneurship iii) Corporate and Business Leadership 
  • Develop partnerships with corporates, public offices, embassies, venture capitals, incubation hubs, entrepreneurs, professors, educators, industry veterans and others to help each fellow on their leadership journey 
  • Track student success data using Monitoring and Evaluation framework and measuring progress of students 
  • Develop program reports and work in close coordination with the Communications and Design teams to design data-driven reports for internal and external stakeholders 

Alumni Engagement 

  • Manage alumni communities to help nurture TBP Alumni ecosystem 
  • Conduct induction ceremony for each TBP Batch engaging the current and past cohorts Engage with potential alumni by electing a class representative from each year and increasing the alumni community engagement 
  • Ensure periodically that alumni are reaching their leadership positions as defined in TBP framework 
  • Help nurture alumni relationships to convert them into donors, alumni interviewers, and other functions

  • Team player with strong people skills 
  • Highly organized, able to handle logistics for multiple activities with attention to detail and capacity to follow through 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce quality communication materials 
  • Understanding of educational systems and curricula and passion for the continent, its people, and its future 
  • Analytical – Should be data-driven and be able to draw inferences (both explicit and implicit) based on qualitative and quantitative data 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree level or higher, with a strong analytical, business focus, and a proven record of academic excellence 
  • At least 4-7 years of previous experience of Program Management/Project Management in a high-growth start-up or in Foundations in the non-profit area, preferably in Ed-tech sector 
  • Significant knowledge of African education sector 
  • Extensive experience in program conceptualization, design and delivery and/or partnerships with a proven track record of innovation, leadership, stakeholder management and performance across multidisciplinary areas and projects 
  • Previous experience or exposure to technology oriented projects would be a plus 
  • Passion for youth development, education, training and development in Africa
