About us
She Code Africa is a non-profit organisation on a mission to bridge the gender gap in tech, by empowering African girls and women with access to digital skills in technology, bridging the gender gap and fostering economic independence.
With an active community of over 30,000 members, She Code Africa identifies as the largest women in tech organisation in Africa with members from across 20+ African countries, and local chapters presence in 30 cities & tertiary campuses across Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Cape Verde, Malawi, Benin Republic, Algeria and Cameroon.
Since Inception in 2016, She Code Africa has empowered over 62,000 African girls and women with tech skills, resources & employment opportunities in the industry, by offering a variety of training programs to equip its beneficiaries for success. These programs include technical bootcamps, workshops, scholarship programs, mentorship opportunities and headline events such as her annual She Code Africa Summit, all designed to foster technical growth and career development.
Through a combination of online and in-person events, She Code Africa fosters a supportive network where girls and women can learn from each other, share experiences, and build lasting connections within the tech industry.
She Code Africa envisions a future where African women are equally represented in the global tech sector, leading the way in innovation and shaping the digital world, through her programs, community, events and initiatives upskilling girls and women, while promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Role Summary
As a Social Media Associate, you’ll play a very important role in being the face of She Code Africa’s brand and media presence. Your work will help engage our audience, increase visibility, and ensure our comms and content resonate with the incredible women we serve and most importantly, communicate our mission and message.
Responsibilities
- Support the social media team in managing and growing She Code Africa’s digital platforms.
- Assist in creating engaging content, including captions, video, (a sprinkle of graphics), scripts, copies, and multimedia posts that keep our audience coming back for more.
- Track analytics, and provide insights to enhance content performance.
- Being the voice of She Code Africa online (and offline), respond to comments, start conversations, and foster an inclusive online space.
- Keeping up with social media trends and bringing fresh, creative content ideas to the table so we don’t just follow trends, we set them as well!
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an NGO is a plus or related fields
- Passionate about storytelling, digital engagement, and community building.
- Hands-on experience with social media management platforms and tools. (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Youtube, Business Suite, Buffer, GSuite, Trello and more).
- Creative, proactive, and excited about amplifying the voices of African women in tech.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Content creation, and community engagement.
- A plus if you know your way around PR and media.
- You can whip up eye-catching designs on Canva and edit slick videos on CapCut like a pro
- You already know and love what She Code Africa stands for
- Experience in public speaking and representing the organization in virtual and in-person activities.

- Assessment Stage: A task and project to showcase your skills.
- Hiring Manager Interview: A discussion with the Hiring Manager to review your assessment, explore your experience, and evaluate your fit for the role.
- Culture Fit Stage: A conversation with the Leadership Team for the final decision to ensure alignment with our values and work culture.
