About the Role
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager will be responsible for implementing and overseeing monitoring activities to ensure effective project management and accountability. They will develop monitoring systems, operationalize, and automate field activities, oversee monitoring quality control systems, and provide insights to inform decision-making and improve program outcomes. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in project management, and a grounded understanding of monitoring, evaluation and learning methodologies and systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation
Lead a team of 6 associates to oversee the technical aspects and actions across all monitoring platforms to ensure alignment with the impact function.
Collaborate with operations, technology, data, and fundraising teams to support the harmonization of the monitoring systems and approaches.
Develop and manage scalable, easy-to-use information management systems for monitoring and evaluation, generating periodic reports to inform and guide programming.
Oversee the operationalization of the theory of change through regular monitoring activities and the tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Plan and oversee monitoring field activities.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Champion access and use of data for shared learning and evidence-based decision-making.
Support the expansion of automation to enhance the timeliness and quality of data collection, analysis, and visualization.
Develop logical frameworks, MEL plans, and digital data collection tools for online data management.
Reporting:
Produce high-quality impact reports and updated dashboards with key findings to foster learning and decision-making, collaborating closely with the technology, data, and business intelligence teams.
Provide regular updates on project progress, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas needing improvement.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop KPI measurement frameworks.
Ensure a high level of communication and maintain close working relationships with cross-functional teams across the organization.
Engage in the design, method, and conduct of internal impact evaluations.
Coordinate and support the impact team; foster timely and high-quality achievement and an inclusive and respectful team climate.
Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and management of field enumerators.
Create high-quality technical training and learning materials for the impact team, enumerators, and internal staff.
Stay updated with industry best practices, tools, and technologies in food production and leadership training.
Recommend and implement improvements to the training processes and curriculum based on feedback and assessments.
Take part in the recruitment process of Kitchen trainees and kitchen staff for existing and upcoming production facilities.
Any other responsibilities as assigned by your manager.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelors degree in a relevant field with at least 4-7 years of experience leading a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning related function.
Technical skills in qualitative and quantitative methodologies and setting up M&E processes and creating logical frameworks.
Experience leading and managing teams of analysts/associates and enumerators in data collection and quality assurance exercises.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with data collection, monitoring and tracking of nutrition-related public health indicators and outcomes in school-age children populations is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience with mobile data collection tools such as Kobo, CommCare, and ODK Collect.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SPSS, STATA, Epi Info, or other similar software. Knowledge of Tableau, PowerBi, or GIS software tools is an additional asset.
Grounded knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems, techniques, approaches, and methodologies in programs.
Demonstrated analytical, systematic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability and judgment to organize, plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks effectively.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with quality products. Strong communication skills and presentation skills.
Strong management skills (Managing, motivating, and developing staff)
