Purpose of the role:

The International Crisis Group is an independent organisation with about 150 staff members worldwide, working to prevent wars and shape policies that will build a more peaceful world. We are looking for an IT Security Officer to join our team. The IT Security Officer will work closely with the IT Manager to support colleagues worldwide, with a particular focus on IT security. While remote work is possible, we encourage applications from candidates who live in Belgium and are able to visit the Brussels office when needed. Occasional international travel to other offices may be part of this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide ICT support to colleagues, including implementation, maintenance, and first- and second-line troubleshooting.
  • Advise colleagues about IT security related matters, including ahead of their travel to cybersecurity sensitive countries, and organise training to both new and current staff.
  • Assist the IT Manager with purchasing, organising delivery and managing laptops, printers, mobile devices, and office ICT needs.
  • Monitor computer equipment and maintain inventory records.
  • Support the administration of Crisis Group’s network and applications.
  • Assist with telecommunications requirements.
  • Coordinate with external IT providers when needed.

Qualifications include:

  • Hands-on technical skills, ideally across:
    • Microsoft technologies (Server/Client Windows OS, Active Directory, MS Office)
    • Mac iOS
    • Google for Business (Google Workspace Enterprise)
    • Remote support (Teamviewer)
    • Remote administration (Windows servers and users)
    • Backup technologies (Online storage, Synology)
    • Networking (VLAN, Firewalls, WiFi access points)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Cisco Meraki, Cisco Umbrella, Trend Micro, CrowdStrike, LastPass, BetterCloud and Chrome OS would be an advantage.
  • 3 years of working experience and prior experience with IT security, ideally in an international environment.
  • People describe you as responsible, well organised, showing initiative and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally to our offices (New York, Washington, London, Nairobi, Dakar).
  • Authorisation to work in Belgium.
