Position Summary

The Group Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO) is a vital member of ForAfrika’s Executive Leadership Team.

The role involves developing and executing a comprehensive global marketing and communications strategy to enhance brand visibility, donor engagement, and revenue growth.

The CMCO will communicate ForAfrika’s impact across Africa to stakeholders—including donors, governments, and partners—strengthening its reputation as Africa’s largest indigenous NGO.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Build and lead a high-performing marketing and communications division.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, initiative, and creativity.
  • Establish clear objectives and oversee team performance.
  • Promote transparency and regular communication within the team.

Brand Strategy & Development

  • Own and align the marketing and communications strategy with organizational impact goals.
  • Develop annual marketing plans and campaigns.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging reflecting ForAfrika’s mission and values.
  • Lead digital strategy to enhance social media presence and storytelling.

Data & Performance

  • Manage strategic KPIs aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Report on performance metrics quarterly.
  • Review dashboard performance during leadership meetings.

Reputation & PR

  • Oversee crisis communication and response protocols.
  • Position ForAfrika as a credible African voice in global platforms.
  • Ensure PR strategies support leadership advocacy priorities.

Operational Excellence

  • Standardize campaign execution, media relations, and brand compliance.
  • Support major donor proposals and cultivation strategies.
  • Implement EOS principles for organizational efficiency.

Strategic Objectives

  • Lead a purpose-driven marketing and communications team.
  • Build and protect a unifying global brand rooted in community-led development.
  • Elevate ForAfrika as a thought leader in humanitarian and development sectors.
  • Produce high-quality content for donor engagement and visibility.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Over 15 years of senior leadership experience, with at least 10 years in executive roles within INGOs or government contracting.
  • Proven success in integrated marketing, branding, PR, and digital engagement.
  • Experience managing multicultural, dispersed teams.
  • Strong background in advocacy, fundraising, and donor engagement.
  • Expertise in media relations, crisis communication, and reputation management.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian and development sectors, global aid systems, and donor landscapes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Data-driven with experience in impact measurement and KPIs.
  • Committed to humanitarian ethics and safeguarding.
