Job Description

Mission of the role

Global School Leaders in partnership with Heroinas Peruanas is creating a series of illustrated stories celebrating school leaders from around the world who have championed gender equity efforts in their schools and communities. As part of this project, Global School Leaders is also creating a guidebook for facilitators who wish to run workshops on gender equity with school leaders. The guidebook consists of five chapters. Each chapter is 10-15 pages in length and contains information about sub-topics along with suggested activities linked to those sub-topics. The five chapters are:

  • Chapter 1: Introduction to Gender Equity (Basic concepts like gender vs sex and stereotypes along with a few suggested activities)

  • Chapter 2: School Environment and Gender Equity (Exploring how physical infrastructure and school culture influence gender equity)

  • Chapter 3: Building Gender Equitable Classrooms (Examining the role of teacher actions and mindsets in creating gender equitable environments within the classroom)

  • Chapter 4: Gender Equitable School Policies (Establishing clear and simple policies for addressing bullying and harassment, policies for student support, etc.)

  • Chapter 5: Working with Communities for Gender Equity (Strategies such as identifying role models, targeted meetings with fathers or mothers, and partnering with local NGOs to address inequitable practices such as child marriage)

The Gender Consultant will review and provide expert feedback on the guidebook ensuring they are aligned with global best practices and evidence on establishing gender equity in schools.

As the Gender Consultant, you will:
