Climate Catalyst is an ambitious start-up dedicated to galvanising the collective power of business, investors, and civil society to influence and accelerate policy change in Asia and Europe. Our vision is a just, prosperous world in which global warming is limited to 1.5C.
We are seeking to hire a 6-month fixed-term contract role for an Indonesian-based Business & Investor Engagement Manager, to mainly work on our local Heavy Industry Decarbonisation programme. There will also be an opportunity to assist the India Steel Decarbonisation programme on its business and investor engagement activities. This role has the potential to turn into a longer-term position, at Climate Catalyst’s sole discretion and pending funding.
Requirements
About The Role
The overall remit of this role is to:
- Work with our partners in civil society to build knowledge products and other materials that will be used to inform and educate financial institutions on decarbonisation technologies, policies, and financing.
- Design and execute events that convene financial institutions to increase their awareness on industry decarbonisation.
- Build Climate Catalyst’s network of banks and other financial institutions in Indonesia.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited, to:
- Lead the Indonesia programme’s workstream on private sector activation to increase awareness of banks and financial institutions of industry decarbonisation and opportunities for sustainable financing.
- Build relationships of trust at all levels with key stakeholders in think tanks, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Translate external information and the work of think tanks into presentable papers, presentations, and other educational materials in a comprehensible and communicative way for the private sector.
- Design and organise convenings with banks and financial institutions to disseminate materials and facilitate discussions.
- As relevant, manage and guide the work of consultants and researchers.
What You Would Bring
- Experience working on sustainable financing with financial institutions and civil society.
- Expertise on sustainable finance topics, policies, initiatives, challenges, and opportunities in Indonesia.
- Adequate knowledge of decarbonisation in heavy industries in Indonesia, or ability to acquire this quickly.
- Wide network and a solid reputation especially with domestic banks and financial institutions.
- A strong network of relevant civil society organisations.
- Experienced and comfortable with working across various regions and cultures.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Desired qualification: knowledge of international sustainable finance initiatives.
