**Malefetsane Simon Fosa** is a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) professional with more than seven years of experience leading data-driven programming, performance monitoring, research, and strategic planning across development and humanitarian sectors. He currently serves as the **National Office MEAL Coordinator at World Vision Lesotho**, where he provides technical leadership for national monitoring and evaluation systems across multiple sectors, including Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Health and Nutrition, Child Sponsorship, and Integrated Programming.
Throughout his career, Malefetsane has built expertise in designing monitoring frameworks, developing performance indicators, strengthening data quality assurance systems, conducting impact evaluations, and translating evidence into strategic decision-making. He has successfully led monitoring systems for donor-funded programmes supported by World Vision Support Offices, UNICEF, the European Union, and other development partners.
Prior to his current role, he served as WASH Design Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, where he led monitoring and reporting for multiple national WASH programmes, introduced digital data collection and GIS mapping through mWater, and supported evidence-based planning for sustainable water resource management. His work has contributed to improving water security, sanitation services, climate resilience, and integrated watershed management across Lesotho.
Malefetsane has also contributed to national surveys and public health research, including supervising large-scale field data collection teams and supporting epidemiological studies. His research interests include climate change adaptation, integrated water resources management (IWRM), WASH systems strengthening, monitoring and evaluation methodologies, digital innovation, GIS applications, and the use of Artificial Intelligence for development programming.
Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Statistics from the National University of Lesotho, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Global Health and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) from Drexel University (USA), and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
