Jacob Mang’ondi Nyarwati is a consulting expert in Programme design, development, Implementation, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Management, with gender, human rights, disability and climate change mainstreamed. Malawi, Guinea, Liberia, South Sudan and Sierra Leone while working with Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS). His mission is to support humanitarian and developmental gender-responsive programming in both emergency and non-emergency situation.
He has more than 10years experience in Program Leadership and Direction, Program Management, Program Design and Development, Program Representation, Reporting, Documentation, and Information Sharing focusing on livelihood and financial inclusion, Climate Smart Agriculture, Menstrual Hygiene Management, Gender Based Violence (GBV), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Child Safeguarding. He worked with AAH-I for 5 years in Livelihood and financial inclusion, supply chain management, WASH and Climate Smart Agriculture as the Head of Programme in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Zambia, Somalia and Djibouti. Worked with Kenya Red Cross Society for 3years as their Logistics manager in Kenya, and Supported Emergency response missions in South Sudan crisis in 2014, Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, and Floods in Malawi 2015. Currently working in KESYDO as Head of programmes, specializing in carbon credit programming on clean cooking and Agriculture, forestry and other Land Use (AFOLU) since January 2022, where gender equality, disability and human rights have been mainstreamed in all aspects of design, development, implementation, Monitoring and evaluation and reporting. He excels in policy and regulations development in PSEA, Supply Chain, GBV, Livelihood, developing risk matrix and register, Monitoring and Mitigating risk.
Over 15+ years, Jacob Mang’ondi has worked with different, funders, donors, and organizations (UNHCR, UNDP, UNICEF, UNWOMEN, WFP, UNHABITAT, ERC, FAO, GIZ, DFID, DANIDA, SWISS CONTACT, UKAID, PRM, USAID, Global Fund, WSTF, Eco Act, Bread for the world, Triple Jump, SNV, Enabel, OFDA, IGAD,WHO, Imperative and MRI) to conduct feasibility studies, design, develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and manage programmes, carry out financial due diligence and develop financial models, and design investment plans that would attract private funding to economies and value chains. I have also successfully supported hundreds of SMEs in emerging markets with fundraising, including dozens of renewable energy companies throughout humanitarian terrain, more especially in refugee camps (solar home systems, clean cooking, biomass fuels, independent power producers, e-mobility, productive uses of energy companies, mini-grids, etc.)
In addition to the above experience’s, Jacob Mang’ondi, brings PDD development expertise along with him in carbon projects such as:
- ENGIMA cookstove project, Narok County in Kenya. Registered with Gold Standard. Distribution of 20,000 improved efficient wood cookstoves. Being financed by Ecoact. Being Implemented by AAH-I.
- Obomo cookstove project, For Kisii County in Kenya. Registered with Gold Standard. Being financed by Ecoact. Distribution of 25,000 improved efficient wood cookstoves starting in 2024 and being Implemented by KESYDO.
- Great Lakes Region cookstove project, For Kisii, Nyamira, Bomet and Migori Counties in Kenya. The project is under development and will be registered with VERRA. Distribution 500,000 improved efficient wood cookstoves. Currently KESYDO has signed an NDA and MoU with Imperative to implement this project. To be implemented by KESYDO in 2024.

Achievements: KESYDO was voted as the Best Forestry & Ecosystem Conservation Organization 2023 - Kenya; Most Sustainable Carbon Credit & Climate Change Project 2023 - East Africa in Africa excellence Awards 2023 under my supervision as Head of Programmes. KESYDO was also accredited to attend UN-Habitat Assembly 2023. Developed carbon credit projects, carry out baseline and LSC, have the projects registered by Gold Standard on clean cooking and Nature Based Projects for Kisii, Nyamira, Bomet, Migori and West Pokot Counties. This work has been done in coordination with the County ministries of Energy, Environment and Climate Change in collaboration with KESYDO project development representatives. Duties and Responsibilities Technically leading and backstopping ecosystem restoration projects during the whole project life cycle Identify opportunities and conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of new carbon emissions reduction projects, as well as on behalf of clients. Managing the pipeline of existing and new Carbon Development projects to ensure issuance of Carbon Credits on VERRA and Gold Standard, against potential or existing contracts. Independently developing and writing carbon project scoping and feasibility reports, project management and implementation plans, project risk management plans, carbon and co benefit monitoring plans and reports, carbon project cost and returns spreadsheets. Leading and writing documents that are compliant with VERRA/Gold Standard methodology rules including Project Baseline Design and Project Design Documents, Project Information Notes, Monitoring Plans, Risk Matrices, Sampling Design, Audit design, and lead the end to end process with VVBs to provide them the required data to ensure carbon credits get issued for the projects. Providing overall project management, ensuring effective implementation of project activities, preparation of annual work and financial plans communication, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), reporting and ensuring carbon project validation and verification is conducted. Providing scientific/technical support to the project team and effectively coordinating all partners in the delivery of project activities, ensuring that partners adhere to quality standards in the course of project implementation. Leading finance and budgets, work-plan development, technical, and programmatic staff to ensure fiscal integrity, quality, and timing of deliverables. Supporting training of sub-county coordinators, Field Officers and climate change ambassadors in the use of digital tools to collect, analyze, monitor & report carbon data, and ensuring quality control of carbon monitoring system for clean cooking and NBS. Designed and provided capacity building and training initiatives which improved supply chain, logistics and procurement functions in KRCS.
