Irene Akinyi Mugenya is a highly skilled and accomplished Medical Doctor with over 7 years of experience in clinical research, project management, and public health. She has a proven track record in leading health systems research and clinical trials, with a focus on maternal, neonatal, and adolescent health.

Currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health at the prestigious London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Irene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nairobi. She currently works as a Research Medical Officer/Project Manager at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, where she oversees multi-county studies aimed at improving the quality of care for mothers and newborns in Kenya. Her work spans 21 health facilities across Kiambu and Kitui counties, where she has demonstrated excellence in training and supervising teams, managing operational budgets, building strong stakeholder relationships, and presenting findings to donors.
