Global Coordinator

Job Title: MYCP Global Coordinator
Location: Remote — Global applicants welcome
Commitment: Full-time
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and location

About Us

Migration and Youth Platform is a self-organised space for children and youth (up to 31 years old) to contribute to and engage in intergovernmental and allied policy processes at the United Nations. We work to realize our collective right to meaningful youth engagement, as enshrined in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and other UN compacts.

Since 2018, we have collaborated closely with key allies including UN agencies to amplify youth voices in global migration dialogues. We’ve led consultations with young stakeholders around the world and helped shape engagement in key policy spaces such as the Global Compact on Migration (GCM) and the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD).

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Coordinator to lead the strategic, operational, and representational work of the MYCP Secretariat. This is a full-time leadership role central to the functioning of the platform — supporting project leads, engaging external partners, managing internal workflows, and leading the Secretariat’s development.

The ideal candidate is already deeply familiar with MYCP’s mission and structure, has direct experience working with us in some capacity, and brings strong understanding of global migration advocacy processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secretariat Leadership: Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Secretariat, ensuring smooth internal functioning
  • Team Oversight: Supervise and support project leads to meet objectives, maintain accountability, and align with MYCP’s values
  • External Relations: Serve as MYCP’s lead representative with partners, allies, funders, and key UN stakeholders
  • Fundraising & Development: Identify funding opportunities, write grant proposals, and support donor engagement
  • Governance & Board Liaison: Provide regular updates to the Board, prepare meeting reports, and support strategic governance processes
  • Volunteer Management: Oversee volunteer recruitment, coordination, and well-being, in partnership with project leads
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain internal records and ensure timely reporting for funders and governance purposes
  • Strategic Alignment: Work to strengthen coherence across MYCP’s projects and ensure delivery is in line with our goals and values

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of global migration advocacy spaces, including the GCM, GFMD, and relevant UN processes
  • Proven experience managing teams, coordinating projects, and leading multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); other UN languages are an asset
  • Comfortable with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, shared drives, and document collaboration
  • Ability to work independently and across multiple time zones, with a deep sense of responsibility

Desirable (Not Required)

  • Lived experience of migration or forced displacement
  • Experience with grant management, donor relations, or organisational development
  • Experience working in or with youth-led, grassroots, or Global South-based initiatives
  • Strong intercultural communication skills and experience working with diverse teams
  • Previous experience working with or within MYCP, in a lead or coordination capacity

Working Hours

  • Full-time: 35–40 hours/week
  • Flexible schedule, but must be able to attend meetings across time zones, including with UN or partner agencies
  • Occasional travel may be required, depending on project needs and budget
