About MYCP
The Migration Youth and Children Platform is a global, youth-led organisation and the official migration constituency of the UN Major Group for Children and Youth. We create the space for children and young people on the move to shape migration policy at national, regional and international level, including through the Global Compact for Migration and the Global Forum on Migration and Development.
Since our establishment we have worked with 272 organisations across 75 countries, engaged more than 105,000young migrants, convened five Migration Youth Forums, and published the first global report on migration led primarily by youth perspectives. Our Strategic Plan 2026–30 sets out five years of strengthening youth leadership, expanding policy influence, and building institutional sustainability.
The organisation is delivered by a small paid Secretariat, an elected International Council providing political direction, a volunteer Coordination Team, and an Advisory Board of Directors that serves as the legal and oversight body of the Platform.
MYCP is a Community Interest Company registered in England and Wales, regulated by both Companies House and the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies. Our Advisory Board brings together leaders from different countries and regions, with expertise spanning migration, fundraising, leadership, and other areas relevant toour work.
Why we are recruiting
MYCP has grown quickly. We have qualified accountants who maintain our accounts and run our financial reviews, but our Board does not currently have a member with a professional accounting background to provide independent scrutiny of that work.
We are not looking for someone to prepare our accounts. We are looking for someone who can ask the rightquestions of those who do, challenge assumptions where needed, and give the wider Board confidence that our financial reporting, internal controls and risk management are robust as the organization continues to grow.
. As we continue to strengthen our governance and financial management, we are currently seeking an Advisory Board member with experience in UK accounting and financial management, given that our organization is based in the UK. This expertise would bring valuable knowledge to the Advisory Board and help strengthen the organization’s financial sustainability and governance
As MYCP is based in the UK, we are particularly seeking an Advisory Board member with experience in UK accounting and financial management. This perspective would complement the diverse expertise alreadyrepresented on the Board and help us strengthen our financial oversight, governance and long-term sustainability.
The appointment is a priority in our institutional sustainability commitments under Strategy 2026–30.
Purpose of the role
