Coordinator of Communications & Storytelling

Employer: CristosalDeadline: August 10, 2026

About the Role

Cristosal is looking for a communications professional who can turn investigations, legal casework, advocacy, and regional analysis into content that reaches donors, journalists, policymakers, influencers, and the public — taking complicated, substantive work and making it clear and shareable, then using that to grow our audience and support fundraising. This person will own both the storytelling and the brand: shaping narratives, producing content across platforms, and keeping Cristosal’s voice consistent.

Responsibilities

Storytelling & Content Translation
  • Turn investigations, legal casework, advocacy campaigns, and regional analysis into accessible, compelling stories.
  • Develop hooks, narratives, and angles tailored to different audiences — donors, media, influencers, policymakers, and academics.
  • Create and oversee content across social media, newsletters, the website, blogs, and donor communications.

Audience Growth & Public Engagement
  • Proactively generate attention rather than simply produce content on request.
  • Craft headline and story pitches for journalists and prominent publications
  • Identify opportunities for earned media and build relationships that support it.
  • Develop creator and influencer engagement opportunities.
  • Connect communications strategy directly to fundraising goals.
  • Grow and deepen audience engagement over time.

Brand & Editorial Quality Control
  • Maintain a consistent voice, positioning, and message discipline across all channels.
  • Oversee visual and brand consistency.
  • Serve as an editor and quality steward for all outgoing communications.

Content Production
  • Produce high-quality content directly, including social posts, newsletters, website updates, blogs, reels, basic video, and briefing materials.
  • Guide and support other staff or contractors on routine content execution.

Core Requirements

  • Proven ability to translate complex human rights, legal, or policy material into clear, compelling public-facing content.
  • A strategic communications mindset — audience growth and impact, not just deliverables.
  • Initiative and creativity; generating ideas rather than waiting for direction.
  • Understanding of how communications connects to fundraising.
  • Strong editorial judgment and quality control.

Important
  • Experience managing brand consistency across multiple channels.
  • Comfort producing content across platforms: social, newsletter, web, video/reels.
  • Ability to segment messaging for different audience types.
  • Strong written and spoken English and Spanish

Helpful, Not Required
  • Media relations experience and press contacts.
  • CRM or contact database management.
  • Experience with website information architecture, dashboards, or data repositories.
