Head of Audit About Us TDi Sustainability (TDi) is looking for a strategic, commercially driven, and technically excellent leader (10+ years’ experience) to take the helm of our Audit Department as Head of Audit, starting immediately. You won’t just be managing audits; you’ll drive the strategy, the team, and the reputation that defines what TDi’s audit capability becomes over the next phase of our growth.

Role Summary

As Head of Audit, you will own the strategic development of TDi’s audit segments, including both 2nd party (client commissioned supplier audits) and 3rd party (independent certification aligned) audit offerings. You will set the direction for where these segments go, identify and pursue the right targets and opportunities, and further develop a global audit team capable of delivering against that ambition. You will Partner closely with the existing Senior Management Team (SMT), who deliver TDi’s audits on the ground, providing strategic direction and growth opportunities while building on the strong foundation they’ve already established. This is a senior director level role. You will sit at the intersection of strategy, business development, and operational leadership, translating TDi’s vision into a clear audit growth plan, representing that plan and TDi’s distinctive capabilities externally, and being accountable for the department’s performance, budget, and results.

Key Responsibilities

Segment Strategy & Growth
• Develop and own the growth strategy for TDi’s audit segments, with a clear roadmap for both 2nd party and 3rd party audit lines
• Identify and analyse target markets, sectors, and clients where TDi’s audit offering can create the most value and growth
• Translate strategic direction into operational plans, allocating priorities and workstreams across the team

Global Team Leadership
• Build, lead, and develop a global audit team, ensuring consistent quality, methodology, and delivery standards across regions
• Distribute and oversee workload across the team, balancing capacity with pipeline and client commitments
• Support senior auditors and mentor managers, supporting career development and succession planning within the department External

Representation & Positioning
• Represent TDi’s audit strategy, capabilities, and unique differentiators externally, to clients, prospects, partners, and at industry forums and conferences
• Act as a credible, visible voice for TDi in the responsible sourcing and audit space, building TDi’s reputation as a trusted, distinctive provider
• Support business development through client pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, working closely with leadership on new opportunities

Departmental Planning & Accountability
• Own the audit department’s budget, planning, forecasting, and reporting on financial performance against targets
• Set and track KPIs for growth, quality, utilisation, and client satisfaction across the department
• Maintain and grow TDi’s relevant accreditations and certifications Methodology & Thought Leadership
• Identify emerging trends in responsible sourcing, ESG frameworks, and audit standards, and ensure TDi’s methodologies stay ahead of the curve
• Coordinate the development and refine audit tools, frameworks, and approaches that reflect both industry best practice and TDi’s distinctive point of view
• Produce thought leadership content that reinforces TDi’s position as an innovator in audit and assurance

Skills and Experience
• 10+ years of professional experience in busienss development, with focus on audit, assurance, or compliance,
• A track record of building or significantly growing an audit function, practice, or business line
• Strong commercial instincts, with experience identifying and analysing target markets and converting strategy into pipeline and revenue
• Proven experience leading distributed or global teams, with the ability to set direction, delegate effectively, and maintain quality at scale
• Confident, credible external presence — comfortable representing strategy and capability to clients, partners, and at conferences
• Strong financial and operational planning skills, including budget ownership and performance reporting
• Familiarity with sustainability and responsible sourcing standards and frameworks (e.g. OECD Due Diligence Guidance, Copper Mark, RMAP, IRMA, RJC, ISO standards)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
• A Master’s degree or MBA in a relevant field is preferred
• Fluent, professional English is required for this role. Given TDi’s global footprint, proficiency in Spanish, French, Mandarin or Portuguese would be a significant asset
