Global Artivism

– a fiscally sponsored project of Res Publica US Inc.

Global Artivism is a Global Majority-led movement that engages the full power of arts and culture to work toward a just world on a safe planet.

We are led by those most affected by injustice, particularly from the Global South, ensuring the movement reflects the cultural and demographic reality of the world. We understand art as praxis — an active force capable of mobilizing people, shifting narratives, and reshaping systems. Our cultural work is inseparable from struggles for justice, ecological integrity, and collective liberation.

The movement connects artists, cultural workers, and activists across regions, building the infrastructure, relationships, and resources for Artivism to lead lasting change.

Core Principles & Structure

These principles shape how the movement works, how decisions are made, and what is asked of those who join.

  • Global Majority Leadership and South–South Solidarity.
  • Distributed Power and Fluid Leadership.
  • Artists at the Center, Culture as Strategy.
  • Intersectional and Community-Centered.
  • Trust Before Scale.
  • Emergence as Method.
  • Transparency and Accountability.
    Ā

Global Artivism is governed by a Global Council representing artists, activists, and movement builders from across regions. The Movement Secretariat is the coordination team that supports the Council operationally.

The Engagement

Global Artivism is contracting a senior partnerships professional to lead how the movement grows and sustains its relationships across regions, movements, and sectors. The contractor will steward existing partnerships, build new ones, and work closely with regional leaders to deepen community engagement. This engagement requires cross-cultural fluency, the ability to build trust with diverse partners across regions, and strategic thinking about how relationships and networks advance the movement.

This is an independent contractor engagement managed through Global Artivism’s fiscal sponsorship structure with Res Publica US Inc. The contractor sets their own working hours and methods, may provide services to other clients, and is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and any local registrations or compliance requirements in their country of residence.

Coordination Relationships

The contractor will coordinate primarily with Executive Leadership, and will work alongside the Communications Director, Program Specialists and Coordinators, Global Council and Committees, and the Governance Lead on agreed deliverables.

Coordination relationships do not constitute supervisory authority. Decision-making at Global Artivism is distributed through governance structures, committees, and collaborative processes.

Key Responsibilites

Strategic Partnerships & Network Development

  • Own and expand Global Artivism’s partnerships portfolio with cultural institutions, activist organizations, civil society networks, and relevant entities.
  • Develop partnership strategy in collaboration with Executive Leadership, ensuring alignment with community needs and movement priorities.
  • Facilitate and negotiate partnership agreements that advance the movement’s goals and build a shared ecosystem.
  • Ensure strong Global South representation and inclusion in all partnership activities.
  • Represent Global Artivism at external convenings and partner meetings; contribute strategic intelligence from the network to organizational planning.
  • Create knowledge management practices that capture learnings from partnerships and community work.

Regional Engagement & Solidarity Building

  • Activate and steward relationships with regional artivism networks, hubs, and communities across Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Middle East/North Africa, and beyond.
  • Design and support consistent regional engagement rhythms — gatherings, dialogues, virtual exchanges — that build trust and circulate learning.
  • Connect regional leadership to global strategy; create pathways for South-South exchange and mutual learning.
  • Coordinate with the Secretariat on ecosystem mapping and partner outreach.
  • Support the Inter-Regional Learning Exchange program to deepen relationships and circulate knowledge across geographies.

Community Strategy & Engagement

  • Facilitate feedback processes and collaborative reflection to assess engagement and identify opportunities.
  • Document partnership and community engagement outcomes; contribute to grant reports and organizational reporting.

Strategic Programs & Events

  • Lead the partnership and community dimensions of strategic virtual and in-person programs, including the Global Artivism Convening.
  • Build partner coalitions and steward key funder and ally relationships for the events.
  • Coordinate community participation planning and inclusive engagement design.
  • Work with specialized partners, contractors and other team members to ensure the convening reflects movement values.

  • Can translate community and network knowledge into organizational strategy and planning.
  • Has worked with or within Global South organizations and communities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently with accountability to the team.
