About the role
GNDR is seeking an ambitious, strategic and mission-driven leader to join our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) as our new Regional Lead for Africa managing our membership and operations across Africa.
The Regional Lead role is broad and influential as well as hands-on. You will be responsible for GNDR’s membership in Africa, leading regional advocacy initiatives, managing a diverse portfolio of donor-funded projects, and fostering essential partnerships with UN agencies, regional governments, and institutional donors.
As a subject matter expert for a designated Risk Driver, you will not only drive regional operational plans but also contribute to the global strategy of the world’s largest network dedicated to disaster resilience.
We are looking for someone with a deep commitment to DRR, climate action, risk-informed development, evidence-led practices, localisation and decolonisation.
The ideal candidate will be a natural communicator with the ability to build strong relationships; they will be a gifted moderator and influencer with high cross-cultural competencies.

Overall scope of the role
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and wider secretariat team, the Regional Lead is responsible for all activities in their region, including: Oversight of membership support and development; strengthening the Board and Regional Advisory Groups members and assisting in their elections; implementation and monitoring of projects and activities with members; advocacy and influencing initiatives; fundraising and project management; ensuring GNDR operational capacity in the region and compliance with GNDR’s policies and procedures.

Salary
This role is offered on a permanent contract. Competitive salary based on location and benchmarked against local market and NGO sector rates.
Eligibility & job description
Eligible candidates must have the right to work in their country of residence and be able to travel internationally.
This role is primarily remote. We will ensure you have a safe and appropriate remote working setup.
As a global organisation our staff work remotely, and most role require a level of travel to attend events, meetings and conferences.

Interview

Interview process: Interview will be held remotely via Google Meet and usually consists of two stages. Candidates who are successful at the shortlisting stage will be invited to a first-round interview. If they progress, they will be invited to a second-stage interview, where we may also ask them to complete a role-specific task or presentation assessment. Interviews are typically conducted by a panel of two to three members, including the hiring manager.
