About Global Artivism
Global Artivism is a Global Majority-led movement that engages the full power of arts and culture to work toward a just world on a safe planet.
We are led by those most affected by injustice, particularly from the Global South, ensuring the movement reflects the cultural and demographic reality of the world. We understand art as praxis — an active force capable of mobilizing people, shifting narratives, and reshaping systems. Our cultural work is inseparable from struggles for justice, ecological integrity, and collective liberation.
The movement connects artists, cultural workers, and activists across regions, building the infrastructure, relationships, and resources for Artivism to lead lasting change.
Core Principles and Structure
These principles shape how we work, how we make decisions, and what we ask of everyone who joins us.
● Global Majority Leadership and South–South Solidarity.
● Distributed Power and Fluid Leadership.
● Artists at the Center, Culture as Strategy.
● Intersectional and Community-Centered.
● Trust Before Scale.
● Emergence as Method.
● Transparency and Accountability.
Global Artivism is governed by a Global Council representing artists, activists, and movement builders from across regions. The Movement Secretariat is the coordination team that supports the Council operationally.
The Role
The Global Artivism Month Specialist leads the coordination and delivery of Global Artivism Month, a flagship annual program running in October or November 2026. You will manage logistics, develop toolkits, and work with partners across regions to ensure strong participation and consistent quality. You will work across the Secretariat and with partners worldwide to ensure Global Artivism Month is well-resourced, well-coordinated, and connected to regional artivism communities. You are experienced in program coordination, skilled at working across time zones and cultures, and able to hold a complex multi-partner process together.
| Reports to Project Lead | Community and Partnerships Director (recruitment in progress) |
| Works closely with | Communications Director, Operations Director, Program Specialists and Coordinators, Regional Fellows, external partners |
Role titles describe functional scope and help people understand what a role does or who to contact. They do not map to decision-making authority, which at Global Artivism is distributed through governance structures, committees, and collaborative processes.
